God Smiled In Frederick, Maryland

How else could I explain what we heard on Saturday, March 14th at our son's piano recital. As one of children playing, from very beginner to accomplished. Each child's experience began with fear then to accomplishment and finally each child had to feel the love that was set forth from not only their parents and grandparents present but from each person as the applause filled the air when they completed their pieces. As each note was played with certainty from the littlest of hands it certainly had to make God and His angels smile.


First, the location although far was worth the trip. Frederick is located about 55 minutes outside of Fairfax County in Frederick County, Maryland. The drive out was wonderful as you pass large working farms and then come into this quaint welcoming town which is now the City of Frederick.

The recital was gracefully hosted by Downtown Piano Works in Frederick, Maryland. It is owned by Theresa and Dan Shykind. They provide a cozy room with a baby grand piano and plenty of seating. The recital was given by our piano teacher Anna Mecik, who herself is an accomplished pianist. To listen to Anna play is to hear God speak to you through her music. She will certainly move your emotions.

This wonderfuly little recital lasted a little over an hour and afterwards the children relaxed in the greatroom. There was a young man who ended our recital who is known from his skill at solving the Rubik's Cube in seconds flat. The children had fun mixing up the cube and handing it back over and watching in amazement how he solved the puzzle in less than 15 seconds.

It was a great afternoon for all.
